 October 5 - 8, 2023

About New Orleans

New Orleans CornerNew Orleans is one of the most well recognized city names in the United States, with a distinctive blend of culture, music and zest for life. As a strategic jewel guarding the mouth of the Mississippi - Missouri river system, it has a rich history which is responsible for its unique culture today, reflecting the many European countries which prized it and the immigrants who made it their home. While perhaps best known for its annual Mardis Gras celebration, it is also the birthplace of Jazz, which can be heard from the many establishments in the heart of the city.

Our visit to New Orleans will include a Wings seminar, a visit to the National WWII museum, free time to explore on your own and a tour of the city by riverboat, not to mention the opportunity to fly into the unique New Orleans Lakefront Airport.

Activity Highlights

WINGS Safety Seminar

FAA WINGS Safety SeminarUSPA safety seminars are open to everyone, and we encourage local pilots to attend whether they are USPA members or not. The safety seminar will include a guest speaker on a safety-related topic of interest and is eligible for WINGS credits.

National WWII Museum

WWII MuseumOffering a compelling blend of sweeping narrative and poignant personal detail, The National WWII Museum features immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and an expansive collection of artifacts and first-person oral histories, taking visitors inside the story of the war that changed the world. Beyond the galleries, the Museum's online collections, virtual field trips, webinars, educational travel programs, and renowned International Conference on World War II offer patrons new ways to connect to history and honor the generation that sacrificed so much to secure our freedom.
Included in our special group rate is the 4D experience Beyond All Boundaries, narrated by Tom Hanks.

Creole Queen Riverboat

Creole Queen

Saturday afternoon, we will enjoy a tour of New Orleans from the waterfront, along with an appropriately Cajun lunch, which is included in your ticket price. Focusing on 300 years of New Orleans history, this cruise is narrated by a local historian who takes guests on a journey through the story of the city as we sail downriver to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and the historic Chalmette Battlefield. Highlights of the tour include the founding of the city by the LeMoyne brothers, the expansion of the city into the “French Quarters” of the Treme and Marigny, the Louisiana Purchase, and the critical Battle of New Orleans. A one-hour shore excursion at the battlefield features a guided tour and talk by National Park Rangers.
